Features
Networking
Every VM gets one of three networks. Pick it with --network when you create the VM, or change it later with hangar set.
Modes
| Mode | --network |
|
|---|---|---|
| Hangar Managed (default) | managed |
NAT through Hangar's network: allow and block lists, isolation, a stable address, VMs can reach each other |
| NAT | nat |
The system's NAT: internet and this Mac, no traffic rules, VMs can't reach each other |
| None | none |
No network |
Only Hangar Managed VMs get traffic rules.
Hangar's network
Hangar's network is run by a small daemon. See it and manage it with:
hangar network status
hangar network stop
hangar network set --subnet 10.80.0.1/24After updating Hangar while VMs were running, shut them down (
hangar stop --all), runhangar network stopand start them again.
VPNs
A VPN that routes Hangar's subnet without giving this Mac an address in it isn't noticed. If VMs lose connections while a VPN is on, move Hangar's network with hangar network set --subnet.
